Mr. Md. Helal Uddin, Chairman, SREDA chaired the event. The aim of the study is to determine the potential energy saving opportunities in public buildings in order to reduce the energy used for air conditioning/refrigeration, lighting, and other equipment in public buildings. The project is funded by Kigali Cooling Efficiency Program (K-CEP) and implemented by GIZ Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP II) in collaboration with GIZ Sector Project Proklima and AIIB. The launching workshop highlighted the scope of energy efficiency in public buildings, aimed to build up an effective network with the related stakeholders, which will ultimately lead towards leveraging finance and adoption of the best available technology in energy efficiency improvement for public buildings. Successful implementation of this project could help boost the energy efficiency appliance market in Bangladesh. Besides it might encourage other key stakeholders to implement energy efficiency projects in residential and commercial buildings as well as in the industrial sector.
