Two consecutive study visits to India took place during November 2019. The objective was to gather experience and insight from the leading public and private sustainable energy institutions of India and explore opportunities for mutual collaboration. The first visit focused on Renewable Energy and was led by Mr. Md. Helal Uddin, Chairman, SREDA. The team met with the Indo-German Energy Forum of GIZ India, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), and Gujrat Energy Development Agency (GEDA). Several project sites were also visited, including Solar mapping and monitoring, Grid-scale 10MWH battery energy storage project, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Smart grid lab in Delhi, and the Jaisalmer Wind Farm in Rajasthan.
The second team centred on energy efficiency and conservation, and was led by Mr. Siddique Zobair, Member (EE&C), SREDA. The Delegation met Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and Energy Management Centre (EMC)- Kerala. Site visits included the UL India Private Limited testing lab and TERI green building in Bengaluru. The team also got the opportunity to attend seminars at the Renewable Energy Expo-Bengaluru, which featured state of the art technologies and innovations in the renewable energy sector.
