Mr. Andreas Hartmann, Head of Development Cooperation, German Embassy to Dhaka was present and focused on the importance of building partnerships to combat global environmental degradation. Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Secretary of Power Division, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources was present at the event as special guest and noted that although the size of operation of renewable energy is not yet very large but still these efforts are important to battle climate change. Mr. Nasrul Hamid MP, Honourable State Minister of Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources graced the occasion as Chief Guest and emphasized that successful models of renewable energy sources be expanded across the country, to ensure sustainable development. He inaugurated a webpage [reeep.sreda.gov.bd] at SREDA’s official website, which hosts the knowledge products developed by the programme. At the closing speech SREDA Chairman thanked government for taking care of monumental issues like climate change and green energy promotion. He also thanked German Government for their technical cooperation and partnership in the development of Bangladesh. The future pathway of German Technical Cooperation in Bangladesh’s energy sector development was also highlighted along with introduction of new programmes Energy Efficiency and Grid Integration of Renewable Energy (EEGIRE), and Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP II).
