Electricity distribution utilities in Bangladesh are playing a pivotal role for implementation of Rooftop Solar Projects. Keeping that in mind, series of trainings on Net Metering Guideline were organized by SREDA. During the feedback session of those trainings, the participants requested to arrange more interactive sessions so each distribution utility could develop own expert pool with subsequent trainings in future. In this regard, TOT Didactical Trainings were for the distribution utilities in December 2021. 40 candidates have been selected for didactical part from evaluation of the previous trainings. Afterwards, a detailed technical training on “Design, Installation and Inspection of Rooftop Solar Project under NEM” was arranged in 09 to 14 January 2022 and 23 to 25 January 2022. 25 final candidates have been selected for continuation of this TOT training. The main objective of the training is to develop master trainers. Global scenario of renewable energy, Net Metering Guideline-2018, Fundamental Principle of Solar Module & Inverter, PV System Design and Engineering, Installation & Inspection Guideline, Electricity Grid Code of Bangladesh, Protection System, Radiation Measurement Device, Detailed Financial Analysis of NEM rooftop solar, Billing Format, Documentation, Commissioning & Testing, Operation and maintenance etc. have been covered in this TOT training. To gain practical knowledge, the trainees visited K A design Ltd in 15 January 2022 where a Net Metered Rooftop Solar Project with capacity of 428.22 kWp is installed. At the end of the training, the trainees learnt technical & financial aspects of Net Metered Rooftop Solar Project and the way of transferring the gathered knowledge. Utilities can now train more engineers through newly developed trainers and can continue to provide Net Metering Guideline trainings.
