The National Solar Help Desk (NSHD) is an undertaking of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA) to support the proliferation of primarily Solar Rooftop programme under net metering. Initial establishment of NSHD has been supported by the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP II) implemented by GIZ Bangladesh. The formal inauguration ceremony of NSHD took place on 19 August 2021 at SREDA. The goal of NSHD is to structure the operations in a way, so that most of its services can be provided directly through its online web portal: https://nshd.sreda.gov.bd/. This portal is robust, user oriented and enriched with relevant contents to implement Rooftop Solar projects. If the required information is not available on the web portal, a user can take appointment through online appointment system of NSHD for physical consultation or virtual meetings. Service areas covered by NSHD are: initial remote assessment of rooftop solar projects, net metering application process, technical information including BDS standards for Rooftop Solar equipment and accessories, financing information, relevant policies, acts and guidelines, public notices, circulars and updates, latest information on the development of rooftop solar, and approved product lists for rooftop solar projects. Till December 2021, more than 200 service recipients have taken their services from NSHD and given their valuable feedback on the services. SREDA eventually envisions to develop National Solar Help Desk (NSHD) as a one stop service center for all renewable energy technologies available in Bangladesh.
