Readymade garments (RMG) and textile sector of Bangladesh make a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. This sector covers around 84% of total exports of the country. More than four million people are directly involved in this sector and majority of them are women. This sector has been playing a significant role in women employment in the country. So, the necessity of raising awareness among the female employees of this sector is always felt, especially on energy conservation in their daily life, at the workstation and households. REEEP II arranged four awareness sessions for 80 female apparel sector employees in January 2021 in partnership with women café. Women cafes are community-based platforms for female employees, from the textile, garments, and leather sectors where they come for informal exchange after a hard day's work. Here they also learn about their rights and responsibilities. Women cafes were conceptualized and facilitated by GIZ Bangladesh Textile Programme and partner NGOs.
