Study Visits of REEEP II Partners

REEEP II facilitated study visits for SREDA and other relevant stakeholders for gaining international experience and knowledge on innovative RE and EE technologies, such as floating solar, offshore wind energy, energy storage, green building, solar mapping and monitoring, testing lab -. for a systematic energy system transition.

Study Trip to India: Floating Solar

A training programme on floating solar for selected Officials of Power Division, BPDB and SREDA was held in Kerala, India in March 2019. The study trip was combined with a site visit at 500 KW floating solar site visit.

Study trip to India: Airport rooftop solar

REEEP II organized a study visit for Bangladesh Government Delegation at Kochi International Airport’s 35 MWp solar installation to support the vision of a rooftop solar project in a Bangladeshi Airport.

Study trip to China: Visit to comparable organizations

REEEP II facilitated a study trip to China for a Delegation from Bangladesh comprising representatives from SREDA, BPDB and BSREA in August 2019. The aim is to support SREDA and BSREA in coordinating with comparable organizations in the region and to support the Delegation to learn about floating solar technology. The Delegation visited Guangzhou Energy Conservation Institute, China National Energy Convention Centre, and China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute. They also visited 11th International Solar PV Exhibition and Expo; International Energy Conservation Expo; and International Energy Storage Expo at Guangzhou. In Hefei, the Delegation visited world’s largest floating solar plant, with a capacity of 150 MW. The delegation also met EPC contractor of the floating solar plant, Sungrow Solar Manufacturing Facility and its Research & Development (R&D) Centre.

Invitation to GIZ Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Week in Germany and Offshore Wind Energy Expo in Netherlands

In October 2019, a high-level Delegation from Power Division, SREDA, BPDB and BSREA attended GIZ Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Week at Berlin, Germany, supported by REEEP II. The event aims to support GIZ partners to effectively promote sustainable energy systems. The thematic focus of the 2019 workshop was interlinkages between energy and climate change leading to decarbonisation of the energy sector. This event also showcased innovative new technologies for orientation to the Global Energy Representatives, including for recycling and reuse of solar batteries. The Bangladesh Government Delegation also visited the Offshore Wind Energy Expo at Amsterdam, Netherlands and explored some transformative technologies and met global service providers on offshore wind and cabling.

Study visits to India to explore new ideas on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies

REEEP II arranged two consecutive study visits to India for Bangladesh Government Delegation in November 2019. The objective was to gather experience and insight from the leading public and private sustainable energy institutions of India and explore opportunities for mutual collaboration. The team met with the Indo-German Energy Forum of GIZ India, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (IREDA), Gujrat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and Energy Management Centre (EMC) - Kerala. Several project sites including solar mapping and monitoring, Grid-scale 10MWH battery energy storage project, Tata Power Delhi Distribution Smart Grid Lab in Delhi, and the Jaisalmer Wind Park in Rajasthan, UL India Private Limited testing lab and TERI green building in Bengaluru were visited. The team also got an opportunity to attend seminars during the Renewable Energy Expo-Bengaluru, which featured state of the art technologies and innovations in the sector.
